Choosing a service

Not sure where to start?

Choose bookkeeping when the underlying records are behind, unreconciled, inconsistent, or not being closed on a predictable schedule. The work may be a one-time cleanup, a recurring monthly process, or a combination of both.

Choose tax preparation when a return, extension, notice, or document deadline is the immediate priority. The first step is to confirm the taxpayer, entity, year, jurisdiction, bookkeeping status, and records still missing.

Choose business advisory when the reports are current enough to support a defined question. Advisory explains cash flow, compares actual results with a budget, documents assumptions, and organizes the financial information behind an operating decision.

  • Behind on records?Begin with bookkeeping cleanup and account reconciliation.
  • Filing deadline?Begin with the return, year, document list, and bookkeeping status.
  • Recurring monthly need?Define the close date, reports, review cadence, and client responsibilities.
  • Business decision?Name the decision, deadline, reports, assumptions, and missing information.

Before work begins

Confirm the scope in writing. Know what happens next.

Your proposal explains the records and periods included, the deliverable, who performs and reviews the work, what you provide, the expected timing, the fee, and any work priced separately.

It also sets how documents are exchanged, starting with any files you attach to your request, and how open questions are tracked until the work is done.

Service questions

Define the work before choosing a package.

Each engagement is matched to your records, deadlines, and decisions, with the scope in writing.

Can one engagement include more than one service?

Yes. A business may need cleanup before recurring bookkeeping, bookkeeping before tax preparation, or current reports before advisory. We separate each phase, deliverable, deadline, and fee so the order of work is clear.

What information affects accounting fees?

Common factors include transaction volume, account count, record condition, catch-up periods, entity and return complexity, missing information, deadlines, reporting frequency, and the amount of review or analysis required.

How do I send documents?

Attach them to the request form on any page, up to 10 files at 20 MB each. Once the engagement starts, we agree on how ongoing records are exchanged.

What should the first conversation accomplish?

It should identify the business, system, records, deadline, main problem, expected result, missing information, and the next step. It does not need to solve every accounting question during the first call.
